Artificial intelligence in the service of cultural heritage
This joint project of the Finnish National Gallery and the Finnish Heritage Agency develops and implements image recognition-based AI tools and new working methods. It aims to improve the accessibility of information related to cultural heritage as well as expand the potential uses of this information.
This project is a part of the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra’s Public Sector Productivity Programme. It strengthens Finnish museums’ expertise in the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence and AI-related guidelines and operating models. The aim is to improve access to cultural heritage information and expand its potential uses.

This sub-project explored the potential of Web3 technologies. It examined the innovations these technologies can bring to the cultural sector and the museum field. The project was realised in collaboration with representatives from the creative field, and it produced cross-disciplinary experiments for piloting Web3 capabilities.
