About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic
Curator
to join the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma is one of the leading contemporary art museums in Northern Europe. Kiasma presents and expands the Finnish National Gallery’s collection of contemporary art, with a focus on the latest developments in both Finnish and international contemporary art. The museum produces 4–5 temporary exhibitions each year, with the aim of bringing contemporary art closer to people and offering visitors new perspectives.
As a Curator, you will work as part of Kiasma’s Exhibitions unit, contributing to the planning and delivery of the museum’s temporary exhibitions. The role combines expertise in contemporary art, curatorial work, exhibition project coordination, and active collaboration with artists, audiences, and Finnish and international partners.
We consider the following an advantage: experience working in an art museum or another contemporary art organisation, international professional networks and a strong understanding of the international contemporary art field, strong presentation and facilitation skills and knowledge of Finnish and proficiency in other languages.
You will thrive in this role if you are an open-minded, curious and imaginative contemporary art professional with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. You are able to build trusting relationships with artists and partners, are comfortable working in international environments, and naturally connect people and organisations across different contexts.
You are interested in what contemporary art can mean to different audiences and want to develop Kiasma’s exhibitions in an audience-centred way without compromising artistic ambition. You have the ability to listen, engage in dialogue and build collaboration, while also driving projects forward with determination.

The salary is 3600 – 3830 €/month, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Primary duties
- planning, and delivering Finnish and international exhibition projects
- managing exhibition projects
- planning and monitoring exhibition budgets
- collaborating with artists, curators, museums, lenders, and other Finnish and international partners
- audience-centred approach to exhibition making
- contributing to the planning of Kiasma’s exhibition programme together with the Chief Curator, the curatorial team and other museum staff
- contributing to the museum’s national and international collaborations
- In this role, you will work with a wide range of audiences, artists and partners
